What this is
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide — a coenzyme central to cellular energy metabolism, present in every living cell. Worth saying plainly up front: NAD+ is a dinucleotide, not a peptide. It sits in our catalog next to a lot of peptides, but chemically it is a different kind of molecule entirely, and it behaves differently in solution and in storage.
NAD+ is not exotic. It is one of the most fundamental molecules in biochemistry — it has a CAS registry number (53-84-9) that predates most of the peptide catalog by decades, and it shows up in undergraduate textbooks as the electron carrier in cellular respiration. Mitochondrial energy production. NAD+ and its reduced form NADH shuttle electrons through the respiratory chain. Research here tends to be about redox ratio — the balance between the two forms — rather than absolute quantity.
Sirtuin activity. Sirtuins are a family of enzymes that consume NAD+ as a substrate. This is the thread that connects NAD+ to a large body of research on cellular ageing, and it is where most of the recent literature sits.
NAD-dependent repair pathways. A separate set of enzymes also consume NAD+ during DNA-damage response. Research in this area investigates the relationship between that consumption and the size of the available cellular pool.
Research suggests these three demands compete for the same finite pool, which is why so much of the current work is framed around availability rather than any single pathway. We are describing what the literature investigates — not asserting an outcome.

A note on our own record-keeping, because we would rather you heard it from us: an earlier certificate for a NAD+ 500mg lot (V260407-4 024) was internally inconsistent — it carried a 500mg title against a 1200mg quantity and a mismatched lot suffix. Questions
How much bacteriostatic water does a 500mg vial take?
That is a choice, not a fixed number — it depends on the working concentration your protocol needs. The reconstitution reference on this page converts any diluent volume into the resulting concentration. We publish the physical relationship; we do not publish a recommended volume, because a recommended volume would be a protocol.
Why is the certified quantity 616mg on a 500mg vial?
Deliberate overfill. Our COA status engine passes any lot at or above 90% of label mass with no upper bound, so 616mg is a plain pass. Fill above label protects against losses in handling.
Is NAD+ a peptide?
No. It is a dinucleotide. It is in the catalog because researchers working on cellular-energy questions ask for it, not because it belongs to the peptide class.
What is the difference between the 500mg and 1000mg vials?
Mass only — same molecule, same lot-level testing regime. The 1000mg is the better unit economics if your work consumes it at volume.
